QACL Foundation Board of Directors

The newly formed Queen Anne’s County Library Foundation is actively seeking new members to fill vacant board of advisors’ seats. The Foundation will help make transformational library projects possible, including the development of a future North County library branch and enhancements to the Centreville Branch. By securing private support and building community partnerships, the Foundation will complement public funding and help expand access to library services throughout Queen Annes County.

The Foundation has essential roles in:

• Advancing the library and its long-term mission by cultivating philanthropic gifts.

• Developing a program of public support to provide supplemental funding for QACL beyond that provided by Queen Anne’s County and the State of Maryland.

• Pursuing grant opportunities for the library to provide funds for special projects and services.

• Serving any other purposes established by the Foundation’s Board of Advisors consistent with Memoranda of Understanding with the Queen Anne’s County Free Library Board of Trustees and with the Friends of the Library Board.

Foundation Members are expected to:

• Understand and articulate the significance of library’s branches, mobile library,

• and book kiosks as well as current programming and partnerships.

• Advance the mission of the Foundation, along with related projects.

• Steward the Foundation’s financial, administrative, and outreach operations in a diligent and ethical manner.

• Attend and be active in the Foundation’s quarterly board meetings including discussion, analysis, and advice concerning all Foundation activities and goals.

• Advocate and network for financial support on behalf of the library within our communities, including at the County, State, and Federal levels of government.

• Recruit prospective, qualified Foundation Board members from across Queen Anne’s County.

• Fundraise, including the following:

o Personal gifts commensurate with one’s ability to give.

o Planning, executing, and attending Foundation fundraising efforts.

o Volunteering and participating in Foundation-sponsored education and outreach.
